Palisades Park will be participating in NC Science Olympiad again this year. Students on the Team will study and research the 19 events that will be held at the competition. The nineteen events are closely aligned with the NC Science Curriculum, specifically 3rd-5th grade. As a team member, each student will use the engineering design process, problem solve, research, study, and HAVE FUN! The website is www.sciencenc.com if you would like more information.
If anyone is willing to help and wants to be a coach please contact Jennifer Cyr or Ann Triolo. A coach can pick the event they would like to facilitate. Some of the events are fun for adults as well.
I am also excited that Laura Borbely from Discovery Place is joining our staff this year. She will be attending planning sessions and helping teachers to implement Project Based Learning activities. She will also be working closely with our Science Lab Teacher, Ms. Cyr, so our students can have a rich and diverse experience with STEM.
We have created a First Lego Robotics team. This is our first year in this competition. Students will be researching a problem, building and programing a robot, and giving a presentation to the judges. We look forward to having at least one team each year.
